Treatment starts in the hospital for Kawasaki disease. It includes injection of immunoglobulin (IVIG) medicine to lessen the chance of getting blood vessel inflamation. ASA therapy is then followed at home after the patient comes out from the hospital. Because of the risk of Rye syndrome, the child shouldn't be given the ASA without consulting a doctor. If ever a child taking ASA medicine gets chickenpox or flu (influenza), make sure to immediately bring the child to a doctor to get checked-up.
